Department Overview
The Wealth Strategy team supports TD's Global Wealth businesses. The team is responsible for providing strategic thought leadership and decision support to the Wealth and Insurance Group Head and the Wealth Operating Committee. Wealth Strategy focuses on strategic business planning, identifying and framing growth opportunities, including cross-business synergies, while better contextualizing the competitive landscape. The team is responsible for providing forward-thinking, fact-based analysis, implementation-ready strategies and tactics that enable and strengthen TD Wealth's competitive advantage. This is a highly visible role, collaborating directly with senior executives to evaluate short, medium, and long-term strategic priorities facing the wealth suite of businesses.
This role is accountable for pan-Wealth strategy development and governance at the segment level, including the aggregation of strategy across lines of business and the definition of strategies for segments and themes that cut across the wealth businesses. The function acts as forward-thinking advisors for the Wealth business via three pillars: Strategic Planning, Competitive Intelligence, and Forward-Thinking Guidance.

Key Responsibilities
1. Own Wealth-level strategic direction and governance (segment-level, cross-LOB)
- Own the definition, articulation, and governance of Wealth-level strategic direction.
- Lead the segment strategic planning process, including Wealth business plans, multi-year priorities, strategic option framing, and enterprise-facing articulation of the Wealth growth and performance agenda.
- Lead the annual pan-wealth strategy planning process, while ensuring strategic alignment is achieved and delivered across multiple lines of business.
- Own Wealth-level strategy, including business plans and multi-year priorities.
- Own the formal articulation and governance of Wealth-level objectives and OKRs. Ensure that the segment's objectives are clear, coherent, measurable, and usable as a management tool rather than a broad narrative construct.
- Responsible for crafting and delivering quarterly summaries on progress against strategy realization to the Group Head and to members of the Board.
- Inform business investment prioritization that will position the business for future growth.
- Provide strategic oversight of realizing, supporting, and evolving the over-arching Wealth strategy across the wealth businesses, with emphasis on segment-level direction rather than defining individual line of business strategies.
2. Lead executive narrative and the quality of strategic artifacts
- Own the preparation and quality of key executive strategy artifacts, including annual business plans, Board materials, SET materials, CEO scorecards, earnings-related support, and strategic briefing materials for the Group Head and senior leadership team.
- Lead strategic planning and enterprise-facing narrative (Board, SET, CEO materials).
- Support Quarterly Earnings presentations including preparation of MOR and QBU materials, and support on key messages for the quarterly analyst call.
- Deliver on Wealth Strategy initiatives supporting the Group Head and Wealth Operating Committee, offsites, Board and other discussion forums.
- Leads sensitive agendas effectively with senior leaders across the enterprise, demonstrating superior judgement.
3. Provide forward-looking guidance and competitive intelligence
- Provide forward-looking strategic perspective on competitive trends, industry shifts, client behavior, regulation, and macro developments relevant to Wealth.
- Inform on-going projects through a deep understanding of competitive trends and practices to sustain and amplify competitive advantage.
- Ownership of pivoting and suggesting changes to strategy across Wealth based on economic climate.
- Facilitate development of Wealth strategy through relevant deep dives and insights; act as a catalyst for change by facilitating appropriate discussions with senior executives.
4. Support major segment-level strategic matters and decisions
- Lead strategic support for major strategic matters, including M&A framing, segment-level strategic reviews, and other material strategic choices affecting Wealth.
- Support major strategic decisions, including M&A and segment reviews.
- Support potential business ventures and evaluate strategic priorities facing the wealth suite of businesses.
5. Build strong enterprise partnerships to translate strategy into action
- Establish relationships and collaborate with stakeholders across the Bank taking into consideration competing priorities and organizational sensitivities.
- Partner with Business Architecture to ensure strategic priorities can be translated into coherent operating-model implications.
- Partner with PMAG to ensure priorities and OKRs inform portfolio decision-making and resource allocation.
- Partner with Data to ensure strategic reporting, executive metrics, and OKR measurement are decision-grade.
- Support the VP and senior Wealth leaders in enterprise discussions and major external-facing strategic moments.
6. Lead within Strategy as a true strategy and planning capability
- Act as the lead executive within Strategy, ensuring the function operates as a true strategy and planning capability rather than a reactive support pool.
- Establish a culture of high performance and lead colleagues through formal and informal means.
- Serve as an ambassador of the pan-wealth strategy team and business enabler, leading confidently across a diverse set of priorities.
Qualifications and Experience
- Post-graduate education (e.g., MBA) and/or business designation (CFA/CPS/CMA) is required.
- 7-10 years in a senior wealth management or corporate strategy role is desirable.
- Advanced knowledge of and ability to conduct industry/business research, industry/business analysis, forecasting, and competitive intelligence.
- Extraordinarily strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Strong presentation and facilitation skills and strong interpersonal and leadership skills to work with senior management at all levels.
- Strong purposeful project management skills; well organized, with high diligence.
- Ability to manage significant ambiguity and constantly changing circumstances in a challenging environment; champion of collaboration.
