Amazon Web Services is looking for experienced engineering leaders to help us define and build the future of computing. The AWS Elastic Block Store (EBS) service delivers high performance virtualized storage "in the cloud" for EC2. High performance storage is a key building block for any application and as a member of the EBS team you'll work alongside other outstanding engineers to develop and operate one of the largest storage services in the world.
As a member of the EBS team, you will have strong ownership over the design, implementation, and operation of a massive scale distributed system. You'll work closely with a tight, agile team that ships and you will be able to see the impact your work has on real customers. You'll also have the opportunity to work across a range of technologies. We are looking for an innovative engineering manager to own, build, and grow the capacity management and provisioning systems that make up EBS. You will be responsible for growing and leading the team that will design, develop, test, and operate key, scaleable systems. As a member of the EBS leadership team you will help set and meet aggressive goals and by working with customers and other leaders throughout AWS you will help shape our long term technical and business strategy.

- 7+ years of experience working directly within engineering teams
- Experience partnering with product OR program management teams
- 3+ years of people management experience, managing engineers
- 3+ years of experience architecting and designing (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems
• BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent
• 8+ years of industry experience
• 4+ years of management experience including people, project and technology management
• Excellent design and problem solving skills
• Experience working on large scale systemsPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
A background in one or more of the following may be helpful with on-boarding and ramp-up for this position:
• Experience with Databases, caching, queuing and workflow systems
• Experience building internet scale distributed systems
• Experience operating 24X7 systems with high availability demands
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well in a team
• Excellent verbal and written skills
