Amazon Web Service's Elastic Block Store organization is the backbone of the cloud, responsible for the cloud storage services for business' of all sizes. With exabytes of data, you will find EBS backing many of the most popular websites on the Internet.
EBS is growing as the amount of data used by businesses that run on AWS continues to increase. EBS is the hard-drive for the Internet, storing exabytes of data for millions of AWS customers. The EBS product allows AWS customers to quickly provision and use scalable storage that meets the needs of their business. We build scalable products that enable our customer's businesses to grow.
Within EBS, the Stats organization builds software systems to drive business insights that enable EBS to both understand current customer patterns as well as identify the next big product offering for our customers. As a Senior Software Development Engineer (Sr. SDE) in the organization, you will be the technical leader on a team that owns software systems that help EBS process exabytes of data running hundreds of millions of queries per day. You will be responsible for writing high-quality code that will be deployed to production. You will also partner with other engineers inside and outside the EBS organization to ensure that your code results in usable solutions for your customers. Come help us move EBS to the next level!
Amazon SDEs play a critical role in Amazon. They bridge the gap between customers and technology to quickly design and deliver scalable and maintainable systems. As you take on more responsibility, you will have input into your team's roadmap and sprint planning process. You may also be involved in making commitments to your customers outside of the organization. You will mentor engineers, other SDEs as an exemplary practitioner of Amazon's leadership principles. Key job responsibilities
Be a part of the team that drives improvements to the performance, availability, scalability, and durability of EBS volumes. This is an opportunity to be part of a team chartered with helping the EBS organization go faster. We own and maintain services that allow the EBS organization to ingest data and derive insights from their fleet telemetry at a petabyte scale. We are working on projects that help engineers measure and analyze the quality and performance of EBS server and drive insights from their fleet, both operational and business insights. Our team's focus has been centered around development of software systems that enable EBS SDEs to quickly, safely and securely derive insights from telemetry data.

About the team
We're looking for innovative engineers to help change the dynamics of providing Volume Health Insights and shift the balance towards outlier detection, monitoring and troubleshooting; while processing hundred of petabytes of data which includes complex data structures. Our efforts will shift to providing support to EBS SDEs in leveraging our platform and services; while continuing to add critical features and functionality to improve EBS's overall quality and release posture.

- 2+ years of experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems
- 3+ years of programming experience with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design
- 4+ years of professional software development experience
- 2+ years of experience as a mentor, tech lead OR leading an engineering team
- Experience designing and deploying components for complex software systems.
- Working on complex, cross-organizational projects
- Experience with multithreaded, concurrent processing
- Experience operating enterprise-scale distributed systems
