What- the Role:
Our client has a growing HR team and they are looking to hire a new Senior Payroll Specialist. Reporting into the Manager, Payroll & Benefits, the Senior Specialist will work on a Payroll team of 5 who process the Canada-wide payroll for approximately 2000 employees. The company currently has employees in BC and 6 other Canadian provinces (Alberta, Ontario, etc.). The company uses Ceridian Dayforce as their HRIS, and the Payroll & Benefits team is optimizing their use of this sophisticated system. The Senior Payroll Specialist will work alongside HR colleagues in benefits, compensation, learning & development, HRIS analysis, HR projects & operations, talent acquisition, etc., and also collaborate with departments outside of HR such as Accounting & Finance. Because the company has been growing exponentially via acquisitions, there is some interesting post-acquisition integration work to contribute to with the goal of streamlining and improving the company’s payroll processes. Who- the Candidate:
We are looking for a proven Payroll professional with at least 5 years’ relevant and recent in full-cycle payroll processing. In addition to the technical skills, we are seeking individuals who are friendly, down-to-earth, humble, assertive, knowledgeable, helpful, and curious. Great communication skills are crucial, as is a self-motivated work style and the ability to encourage a team-player attitude. - Experience processing salary and hourly payroll for a company with 500+ employees is required. Experience working in a company with 2000+ employees is a significant asset.
- Experience with T4s, T2200s, ROEs, employer health tax remittances, etc.
- Multi-provincial payroll experience is required- minimum BC plus one other Canadian province, and the more provinces the better!
- PCP certification is viewed favourably (this company is a passionate supporter of employee professional development).
- Understanding of different employee benefits (RRSP match, health & dental benefits, PD allowances, etc.).
- Experience in the retail sector (i.e. multiple locations/branches/stores/operations) is a bonus, not required.
- Experience using Ceridian Dayforce is very beneficial!

Currently most employees are working from home. The beautiful corporate headquarters will reopen in Greater Vancouver in spring 2022 and the Senior Payroll Specialist will work from the office 2 to 4 days a week.
