Job Description:
The successful candidate will report directly to the Finance Manager supporting the Global Security and Defence (GSD) team under the Protect Platform. This role is responsible for overseeing monthly financial reporting, conducting in-depth financial analysis, and assisting with the forecasting and planning initiatives. This role requires strong analytical capability, business acumen, and the ability to translate financial data into clear insights that support executive decision making. As a trusted advisor to the GSD leadership team, the candidate will ensure that operational and strategic decisions are fully aligned with the financial objectives, thereby driving shareholder value.

Job Description:

Key responsibilities include:
- Collaborating with the GSD team, TD Business Operations, and Vendor Management to evaluate business requirements and develop comprehensive annual budgets and quarterly financial forecasts.
- Analyzing actual monthly financial results against budget and forecast, identifying key variance drivers, trends, and risks/opportunities to optimize performance.
- Preparing executive-level financial presentations and regularly briefing the GSD leadership team to provide clear visibility into current and projected financial performance, enabling informed decision-making.
- Ensuring compliance with accounting standards and internal controls through diligent review of transactions and execution of necessary ledger entries, including accruals, deferrals, and internal reallocations.
- Monitor vendor costs, contracts, and licensing costs, ensuring all expenditures align with budgetary constraints and strategic objectives. Includes maintaining a comprehensive database of vendor costs and renewal schedules to support proactive financial planning and risk mitigation.
- Undertaking ad hoc assignments as required (e.g. reviewing Business Cases to validate financial input and impact against existing expense baseline, update the financial reporting model and structure to ensure alignment with any corresponding organizational changes such as merging of departments).
- In addition to the above, there is a strong focus on driving continuous improvement and innovation with the goal of enhancing financial reporting insights, transparency, and efficiency while reducing workload and cycle times.
Skills and Competencies Required for Success in the Role:
- Highly skilled and experienced in Financial Planning & Analysis.
- Ability to foster and maintain strong relationships with a multitude of business partners.
- Effective communication (both written and verbal), facilitation, and consensus-building skills.
- Taking leadership and ownership of processes and results, to drive successful outcomes.
- Highly organized with excellent time management skills.
- Ability to work with and distill large amounts of data into meaningful information with minimal management supervision.
- Be capable of thriving in fast-paced and constantly changing environment.
- Possesses ability to manage several projects/tasks concurrently.
- Expertise in accounting guidelines and rules.
Education and Professional Experience Requirements:
- University degree (Finance/Accounting/Economics preferred).
- Completed or working towards CPA, CFA or other accounting/financial designations would be an asset.
- 5 or more years of professional experience centered in areas such as financials, analytics, accounting.
- Proficiency and experience with Excel and PowerPoint and financial reporting systems such as Hyperion SmartView, Oracle Business Intelligence (Tableau and Alteryx would be an asset).
