Hourly: $52.41-$114.65/hour; Per Three Credit Course: $7,947; Actual salary or hourly rate will be based on the number of credits and term of appointment according to the Collective Agreement.
The Opportunity
The Therapeutic Recreation Department is seeking a contract faculty for the Summer 2026 academic term to teach THRT 2333 TR Practice I, THRT 2444 TR Practice II, and THRT 2455 TR Therapeutic Recreation and Recreation Health Promotion: Degree. Location of work is variable.

WHAT IT TAKES
The Department of Therapeutic Recreation is a unique program, recognized as an innovative program leader with a strong academic and research-based curriculum in addition to numerous opportunities for experiential learning throughout both the Diploma and Bachelor Degree programs. Graduates from both the Diploma and Degree programs are career ready or, if desired, some Degree graduates choose to continue onto Graduate level programs. The Department of Therapeutic Recreation currently prepares BTR students for eligibility to become a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist.

Responsibilities:

Faculty will teach a range of practicum courses. As a faculty member, you will be required to instruct students, facilitate learning, and evaluate student progress in therapeutic recreation courses.

You will plan, organize and manage learning activities and resources, provide academic advice to learners, conduct site visits, and maintain high quality learner-centred instruction. A faculty member is also required to work collaboratively with all TR Department members.

Position Requirements:

- A Master's degree (PhD preferred) in Therapeutic Recreation or a closely related field.
- A minimum of one credential must have a major in Therapeutic Recreation, Recreation, or Leisure Studies. A Bachelor's degree may be considered for practicum supervision positions.
- Culturally responsive and able to work with people of varying ages and abilities.

- Knowledge and experience in a range of Therapeutic Recreation practice settings is an asset

- Knowledge and experience of the Therapeutic Recreation process and foundational principles of the Therapeutic Recreation profession
- A range of teaching experiences with post-secondary teaching experience is an asset

- Has demonstrated a strong commitment to innovative approaches to teaching and learning
- Excellent communication skills and willingness to work cooperatively in a team setting

- The ability to use online learning platforms, required for both in-person and online teaching
